A description of Worcester Racetrack - Gradients,Direction,Trivia, - Worcester Racecourse.

Worcester Racecourse is located in the city of Worcester, south west midlands of England.

In common with most U.K. tracks they race left handed at Worcester.

Track is almost flat and no real stamina requirements needed to win at Worcester Racecourse.

The bends here are easy to negotiate, and will suit most horses, and for that reason field sizes are usually more competitive than many other National Hunt courses.

Front runners can do well at Worcester as it is galloping in nature, but 4 fences in the straight need to be jumped well.

....

Worcester Racecourse has a circuit of about 1mile 5 furlongs.

No flat racing just National Hunt racing (jumps) hosted at this track.

Fences are not too difficult (9 for each circuit),but 4 fences in the home straight can make for exciting dash for the line, and horses will need to jump well to win,as the run in from last fence is just 200 yards to the winning line.

The hurdle course has just 6 obstacles to negotiate each circuit.

Flat racing was held at Worcester Racecourse, but ended in 1966.

Racing at this location (Pitchcroft) is recorded as early as 1718.

Many race tracks are hard to get to - not Worcester Racecourse as it right in the heart of the city.

Children are welcome here, and a permanent play area is located in the centre enclosure.

Most meetings are now held during the summer months, particularly as Worcester Racecourse, adjacent to the River Severn,is prone to flooding. The floods of 2007 were so severe that most meetings were lost that year.

The centre enclosure is very popular with families, and picnics are allowed in this enclosure.

Worcester host about 20 meetings each year.
