A description of Wolverhampton Racetrack - Gradients,Direction,Trivia, - Wolverhampton Racecourse.

Wolverhampton Racecourse is located near Wolverhampton in the west midlands of England.

Like most English tracks, they race left handed at Wolverhampton.

The deep sand surface was removed in 2014 and Wolverhampton Racecourse was the first English track to use the Tapeta option.

Like all,all weather tracks,Wolverhampton track is perfectly flat.

Draw bias - only very slight, but low numbers have an advantage over 5 and 6 furlongs, and big fields of over 10 runners will show, again, just a slight low draw advantage.

....

Very short run in of just over 200 yards to winning post.

The Tapeta surface was an improvement, but making up lost ground,or finishing late is difficult on Tapeta, and course winners, and jockeys, who ride here regularly, should be followed when considering a bet.

Wolverhampton Racecourse circuit is just 1 mile in circumference.

Small circuit makes the bends quite tight and your selection needs to be nippy to negotiate the bends and sprint for winning line up the short straight.

Wolverhampton Racecourse was the first track in England to hold evening floodlit horse racing.

The track held its first race meeting here (Dunstall Park) in 1887,but horse racing was taking place at nearby West Park over 200 years ago.

National Hunt fixtures were very popular at Wolverhampton Racecourse until the all weather surface was laid, and there is just flat racing here now.

Older locals still refer to Wolverhampton Racecourse as Dunstall Park, which is the area of Wolverhampton that track is situated.

Again, older local racegoers ( like myself) will fondly remember summer evening festival meetings at Dunstall Park on grass, when huge crowds used to visit - in contrast to the meagre attendancies the insipid all weather fixtures attract.

This track is the most similar to the American dirt racetrack you will find anywhere in the U.K.

Why not go racing in style by renting one of the hospitality suites  for the day ? - full details from management for family or business colleagues going racing in a group.

Go racing at Wolverhampton Racecourse for free ! - at time of review,Wolverhampton were offering free admission during the cold month of January - this has been on offer for the last 6 years and looks like a permanent concession, but please check it is still on offer before going.

The all weather surface has one advantage - they can race much more often, and Wolverhampton Racecourse host almost 100 meetings every year

Plenty of food outlets at Wolvehampton Racecourse, but if you want a restaurant meal you will need to book before race day to get a table.

Under 18s can get in free with an adult - 2 maximum.

Senior citizens also qualify for a discount.

Wolverhampton Racecourse is perhaps the most urban of all U.K. racecourses and is surrounded by houses and factories, but the track itself is set within 20 acres of parkland.

This track is also an entertainment centre, and after racing on Saturdays, stay on site and visit the EBC Suite for top class live performances.

Great facilities for locals to arrange business meetings, weddings etc. on non racing days at Wolverhampton Racecourse - details from events manager.

On site hotel (Holiday Inn ),if you prefer to stay the night after or before racing.

Unlike many tracks, you cannot bring any food or drink into the track on race days.

No centre enclosure,so dogs (unless assistance dogs)are not allowed on track.

This is a modern track, and disabled visitors have built in facilities like parking spaces, toilets, lifts, hearing loops and more - and if you have a carer, they can get in free.

Rail travelers are well served as Wolverhampton Station is just a mile from track - regular buses or short cab ride will get you to track quickly.
