A description of Redcar Racetrack - Gradients,Direction,Trivia, - Redcar Racecourse.

Redcar Racecourse is located in north Yorkshire, the north east of England.

Just flat racing at Redcar,no National Hunt racing here.

The track is oval and perfectly flat.

....

Like most racetracks in England they race left handed at Redcar.

The bends here at Redcar are quite tight and will not suit some horses.

Despite the tight bends at Redcar,it is still regarded as a galloping track,as the bend into the straight still has a long 5 furlongs run in to go before the winning post.

Draw bias - no real bias at Redcar, but they tend to run in the middle of the track for all races up to a mile, and there may be a very slight advantage to being drawn with a middle number.Any race that takes in the bends has no bias at all as the long run in enables horse and jockey to position themselves.

It is unusual for any course to have a mile straight track, and Redcar provide that, and also claim it is the only U.K. track over a mile that is both straight and completely flat with no undulations.

Redcar Racecourse is located on the coast and racing was held on the nearby Coatham sands before the racecourse was opened.

Redcar usually hold about 20 meetings each year between April and November.

Children are very welcome at Redcar, and get in free, under 17, if accompanied by an adult.Free entertainment is also provided for younger children to enjoy between races.

An on site conference centre can host your weddings, stag nights, business meetings etc. - contact events manager for details.

The last race meeting on the local sands was in 1870,and the "new" racecourse was opened in 1872.

Are you a Racing UK member ? - If so,you get free entry at selected meetings held at Redcar during 2015/16,and may be extended beyond that date - please check !.

Recent improvements at Redcar Racecourse include a new viewing grandstand with restaurant on the upper floor that provides the best view of the action.

Lots of fast food outlets, but if you want to enjoy a sit down restaurant meal you may need to pre book.

Packages for family or business groups can get special deals and privileges - please contact events manager for what they have to offer groups of racegoers whether large or small.

Redcar was requisitioned during World War 1 as an airfield, and during World War 11 as an army camp.

The biggest race at Redcar takes place in October - The Zetland Cup,worth about £150,000 to the winner.

No National Hunt racing has taken place at Redcar, but regulations when the new track opened insisted that fences and hurdles must be built to pass those regulations to open to the public.

Redcar Racecourse is one of just a few independently owned courses in the U.K,.

Disabled racegoers are welcome and they have separate parking, toilets and first aid access - but at the time of this review - no lifts or viewing areas for the disabled.Carers can get in free at Redcar at the entrance gate.

Roads can get very congested on race days and travel by train may be the best option as Redcar racecourse is just a few minutes walk from the station.
