Leopardstown Racecourse is a horse racing venue located in Leopardstown, Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown, County Dublin, Ireland.

It is one of the most popular racecourses in Ireland, and hosts a number of major races throughout the year, including the Irish Champion Hurdle and the Irish Gold Cup.

The racecourse was founded in 1888 by Captain George Quin, who modelled it on Sandown Park Racecourse in England. The first meeting was held on 27 August 1888, and the course has been in continuous use ever since.

In 1967, Leopardstown Racecourse was acquired by the Horse Racing Board of Ireland (now Horse Racing Ireland). The course has undergone a number of redevelopments since then, most recently in 2017.

Leopardstown Racecourse is a left-handed oval track, measuring one mile and six furlongs. The course is known for its testing uphill finish, which has made it a popular venue for National Hunt racing.

There is some evidence of draw bias at Leopardstown Racecourse, but it is not significant.

In races over 6 furlongs, stalls 1-3 have a slight advantage, but this advantage disappears over longer distances.

The racecourse has hosted a number of major races over the years, including the Irish Champion Hurdle, the Irish Gold Cup, and the Irish Champion Stakes.

By public transport

Leopardstown Racecourse is easily accessible by public transport. The racecourse is served by a number of Dublin Bus routes, including the 46A, 145, and 155. The 114 to/from Blackrock DART station also stops at the main gate of the racecourse.

By taxi

Leopardstown Racecourse is also easily accessible by taxi. A taxi from Dublin city centre to the racecourse will take about 15 minutes.

There are no direct trains to Leopardstown Racecourse. The closest train station is Blackrock DART station, which is about a 10-minute walk from the racecourse.
