A small circuit of just over 1 mile,and almost square in shape with short run in of 220 yards.

No flat racing at Fakenham,just National Hunt meetings.


Separate courses for chasing (on the inside) and hurdlers.

Bends are tight at Fakenham and will suit nippy agile horses.

Ideal for front runners,and the tight bends make coming from a long way behind almost impossible.

Look for course winners at Fakenham as the succession of tight bends on each circuit unsettle many horses who fail to handle them.

Unlike many tracks,stamina is not a major requirement for winning here,agility and speed are more important.

Going rarely gets testing at Fakenham due to the sandy nature of the soil.


Fakenham is a small friendly racing venue,ideal for families,and there is no formal dress code for any enclosures.

Children,who are with an adult,can get in for free if 17 or under.

Fakenham,by English standards,is a relatively new course having opened for business in 1905.

Due to the small circumference,many jockeys in the past have ridden hard for line,only to be informed by agitated racegoers that another circuit was required!.



A delightful setting for racing,but Fakenham host just 9 fixtures each year.


Disabled visitors have their own handy car park and also an elevated wheelchair viewing area.

Fakenham is the closest course to Sandringham House and Royal Family members attend from time to time.


Fakenham Racecourse is popular for picnics and caravan visitors,and they are very welcome on non racing days.

Look out at Fakenham Racecourse for the occasional Point to Point and Arab Racing fixtures they hold from time to time.


Many locals hold weddings,parties and other functions at Fakenham Racecourse.

Getting to Fakenham Racecourse is difficult for rail visitors as the nearest station is Kings Lynn,which is 22 miles from track.
