Best Perms when Betting on Saturday Scoop 6 Bet.

Scoop 6 horse racing bet is held on Saturdays every week, with extra Scoop 6 bets during the big meetings like Cheltenham, or Royal Ascot, etc.

Each bet costs £2 for each line in a perm, which really is too high for me. I have been betting for over 50 years, and have never had 6 consecutive winners ( and bear in mind they pick the toughest races of the day ).

It can be done, and some years back, the incredible Mrs. Haddock had one £2 line and won a couple of million by doing just that.

Why the Tote don't allow you to bet in units of lower than £2 surprises me.

You can do Placepots, Quadpots and other Tote bets for as low as 10pence per line - this gives the average punter a fighting chance of winning, but with the Scoop 6, you have to pay £2 per line, which excludes me, and most other fun punters I would guess.

The only players who benefit from this £2 minimum per line are the syndicates.

They wait until the Scoop 6 bet rolls over for a couple of weeks, with the rollover bonus engorged by gullible one line bettors, then pounce.

Syndicates invest, often thousands of pounds, in multiline bets and usually win the big rollovers, which would irritate me, if I played every week.

Not criticizing those syndicates, it is the only way to play the Scoop 6, and it gives themselves a real chance of collecting.

There is also a consolation element to the Scoop 6, and that is a payout, if you don't find six winners, but all six qualify for a place.

The dividend for 6 placed horses in each leg of Scoop 6 races can be substantial. However you should understand that only a small percentage of the total stake money is allocated to the place only payout.

In my opinion you would be better off doing a Placepot, or Quadpot, where all money, (after the Tote take their cut ) is returned to investors.

If you do want to attempt winning this bet, here are your best perm options, with the cost.

1 selection in each race, is obviously 1 bet - £2 cost.

2 selections in 1 race and 1 selection in the others - £4 cost.

2 selections in 2 races and 1 selection in other races - £8 cost.

2 selections in 3 races and 1 selection in other races - £16 cost.

2 selections 4 races and 1 selection in other races - £32 cost.

2 selections in 5 races and 1 selection in other race - £64 cost. 

2 selections in all 6 races - £128 cost.

3 selections in one race and 1 selection in the others - £6 cost.

3 selections in 2 races and 1 selection in other races - £18 cost.

3 selections 3 races  and 1 selection in other races - £54 cost.

3 selections in 4 races and 1 selection in the others - £162 cost.

3 selections in 5 races and 1 selection in other race  - £486 cost. 

3 selections in all 6 races - £1,458 cost.

4 selections in 1 race and and 1 selection in other races - £8 cost.

4 selections in 2 races and 1 selection in other races - £32 cost.

4 selections in 3 races and 1 selection in other races - £128 cost.

4  selections in 4 races and 1 selection in other races - £512 cost.

4 selections in 5 races and 1 selection in other race - £2,048 cost.

4 selections in all 6 races - £8,192 cost.

Anything above that, I suggest, may be getting too hot for even the biggest syndicates.
